The charming and youthful side of Boston

South Boston, lovingly called Southie, is one of the oldest and most charming inhabited areas in Boston, Massachusetts. The neighborhood boasts stunning old-world architecture several centuries old. Despite its strong historical roots, the area maintains a youthful and vibrant atmosphere, complete with trendy sports bars, a successful public transportation system, numerous dog-friendly parks, and affordable housing.

Buildings in South Boston are designed close together on well-kept, traditional grid-locked streets with numbered and alphabetical names. As a result, many residences are walkable to prime shopping, dining, and entertainment spots. The area itself is easily accessible and offers immediate access to the MBTA, which cuts directly through South Boston and consists of the west side’s red line and the east side’s Boston Coast line.

Its neighboring community, Seaport, borders South Boston. While many get the two areas confused, it’s important to note that Seaport is its own locale. Seaport is one of Boston’s newest neighborhoods and features high-end restaurants and office highrises. Many residents in South Boston commute here for work and play.
