South Boston, lovingly called Southie, is one of the oldest and most charming inhabited areas in Boston, Massachusetts. The neighborhood boasts stunning old-world architecture several centuries old. The area itself is easily accessible and offers immediate access to the MBTA, which cuts directly through South Boston and consists of the west side’s red line and the east side’s Boston Coast line. 

 

Its neighboring community, Seaport, borders South Boston. While many get the two areas confused, it’s important to note that Seaport is its own locale. Seaport is one of Boston’s newest neighborhoods and features high-end restaurants and office highrises. Many residents in South Boston commute here for work and play. Notable buildings in Seaport include St. Regis, Echelon, Fan Pier, and Pier 4.

Thomas Park, locally known as San Fran of Southie, features a circular park with hills perfect for winter sledding. The area boasts wide open spaces and paved walking paths. 

 

Attending The Saint Patrick’s Day Parade is a must. This fun event draws thousands to the area for a chance to see decorated floats and experience live music, dancing, and great food.
